Rockford Dactyls – Our Second Family!

 

 

          Being a member of a Rockford Dactyls Team has changed our lives! We have spent endless hours with people we may not have known otherwise. Our team has become more of a family than anything else; our parents have truly become good friends as well over the years.

When we were younger we would spend hours at ISC just waiting for our turn to play. Riding the elevators up and down would help pass the time as we sat talking and laughing together.

Our weekends were consumed with traveling to different cities and states, but we always left time for friends and family. By the age of 13, most kids had not seen half the cities we had. On our summer breaks we would find time to dedicate to a week long overnight soccer camp, such as Notre Dame where we were able to see and play at a prestigious division one university. We also attended Vogelsinger soccer camp where we played sun up to sun down, and NIU soccer camp where our team’s unforgettable talent show performance took place.

So many changes have happened as we have grown & learned as a team. Our team is made up of different towns, cities, & states & some very different personalities all brought together by our common love for the game of soccer. Practices are not only training time but a time to separate ourselves from any drama. The respect we share for each teammate allows us to push each other physically and mentally. Through our intense training we have learned to trust on another on the field as well as off the field.

Over the years with the Dactyls, our coaches have watched us grow as players and people. They have become our mentors and friends through everything. All the memories we have created as a team will never be forgotten, and each teammate can never be replaced.
